Augment Your Brainstorming. Go From Thinking to Doing.

April 19, 2011

Augmented Brainstorming

“Become more conscious of the creative power within your reach

Alex Osborn
Creator of Modern Brainstorming Techniques

Brainstorming was popularized in 1939 by Alex Osborn. He was a partner in an ad agency looking to expand the boundaries of projects and create a better context for idea generation. Osborn developed several rules for a good brainstorming session: encourage large quantities of ideas, include the outlandish unusual ideas, minimize judgment, and build on each idea.

In 1939 brainstorming methodology was solid but technology was still disconnected. Alex Osborn could have his secretary type up the groups’ ideas (as most real managers in 1939 didn’t type) and hand them out on a piece of paper to everyone.

Discover the Zen of Home Office Productivity with PersonalBrain 6

October 21, 2010

women

These days very few of us leave our projects at the office. Taking work home or working remotely, while giving you the convenience of writing a proposal in your pajamas, is not without its challenges.

When we work remotely our attention can become very fleeting: the call of domestic chores, the cat swiping at the cursor… We only need to gaze out at the yard and our mind wanders from completing the monthly sales report to weekend yard work.

Your Autobiographical Brain

July 28, 2009

Autobio-1.jpgIt’s All About You,
Really.

Accidental Autobiography:  Your Digital Mind

Navigating through someone’s TheBrain gives you a very intimate look at who they are. You can learn a lot about that person not only by the Thoughts they’ve chosen to add, but also the way things are connected.

Creating a Brain that moves beyond the sum of its parts usually happens by accident as your Thoughts and ideas grow. But actually taking on the task of self-reflection and exploration using TheBrain can be just as fun and rewarding. With this in mind, let’s explore some ideas for purposefully mind mapping yourself.

Getting Things Done with TheBrain

March 3, 2009

check125.pngClear Your Mind. Get It Out of Your Head and into Your TheBrain.

“First of all, if it’s on your mind, your mind isn’t clear. Anything you consider unfinished in any way must be captured in a trusted system outside your mind, or what I call a collection bucket, that you know you’ll come regularly back and sort through.”

David Allen, Getting Things Done

A central premise of David Allen’s Book and cultural movement, Getting Things Done, is that you can experience a tremendous sense of relief and control by moving your tasks and ideas outside of your mind and recording them externally in a place you can trust and where you will review them regularly. This frees your mind from remembering and allows you to focus on completing your tasks. Capturing and improving your thinking of course is what TheBrain is all about.

Go from Zero to Sixty with your Knowledge on Anything Now…

November 7, 2008

Zero to SixtyThink of PersonalBrain as a canvas for your thinking to learn and grow your knowledge on any topic without limits. Creating a Brain is an investment in you and an intellectual endeavor, but not the sort that means hours of study or writing a thesis paper.

Gain a New Outlook on Stuff You Need to Know
PersonalBrain is a new medium of intellectual expression that can be applied to your self-fulfillment, education, research and projects at work. The novel and enriching interactivity of this visual medium enables you to not only build an outline of the topic, but to make the connections and see the relationships that drive insight and a clear understanding.

Using PersonalBrain to Learn, Inspire and Remember

September 9, 2008

lightbulb.jpgFrom Edward Leedskalnin’s Coral Castle to product design, let your PersonalBrain bring your ideas home.

Where do you put your ideas and fledgling memories that mean the most but don’t really need a folder? There are snippets here and there: that interesting web site, or cool new car design…not always that important at the time, but always completely you.

As we surf the Web, meet new people and travel, we are exposed to new ideas and familiar ones that give us comfort and validation. Even though our minds process and retain these key events, over time and with our hectic lives, it’s easy to forget the most important project details and these new insights can get lost in daily tasks. Creating a digital memory or mental map of everything that is important to you will give you an expansive digital world new for inspiration and ideas.
